About Our Nanaimo Service

A Moving Company That Knows Nanaimo

Nanaimo is Vancouver Island’s second-largest city and the main gateway between the Island and the Lower Mainland. People move here for work at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, to study at Vancouver Island University, to retire near the water, or to find more space than Vancouver offers. Whatever brings you here, Haulsy Moving gives you a dependable, well-organized crew from the first box to the last piece of furniture.

We provide local moving, apartment and condo moves, house moves and office relocations throughout Nanaimo. Every booking includes a professional crew, a clean moving truck, furniture blankets, dollies, straps and standard disassembly and reassembly — so there are no surprise add-ons on moving day.

Moving between the Island and the mainland? Our long-distance movers handle Nanaimo to Vancouver moves, including the ferry crossing, and longer moves across BC and Alberta.

Local Moving Tips

What to Know Before Moving in Nanaimo

These are the local details we plan around so your Nanaimo move stays on schedule and on budget.

Ferry moves to and from the mainland

Moves between Nanaimo and Vancouver use BC Ferries from Departure Bay or Duke Point. We plan around sailing times and book the truck's crossing so your belongings arrive the same day whenever possible.

Hillside and waterfront homes

Many homes in Departure Bay, Hammond Bay and Brechin Hill sit on steep or narrow lots. We pick the right truck size during your quote and plan shuttle loads when a large truck can't reach the door.

Wet West Coast winters

From November to March, rain is part of almost every Island move. We bring extra floor runners, plastic wrap and mattress bags to keep furniture, floors and boxes dry.

Downtown condo and strata rules

Newer buildings near the harbourfront and the Old City Quarter often need elevator reservations and a certificate of insurance. Tell us your building and we'll send the paperwork ahead of time.

Student move-in season

Late August and the end of April are busy around Vancouver Island University. Book early if you are moving near the University District, Harewood or the South End.

Month-end and summer weekends

The last and first days of the month fill up quickly, and summer ferries sell out. Booking two to three weeks ahead gives you the best choice of times.
